THE LAMACCHIA CREW BUILDING A DRIVEWAY FROM SCRATCH

We Don’t Lay Driveways, We BUILD Them

Joe Lamacchia Landscape, Inc. can provide all your asphalt needs including: Driveways, Parking Lots, Repairs and Private Roads

The appearance of your driveway creates an impression about your home and way of life. An inviting driveway provides a focal point for passers-by and visitors approaching your home. And an attractive driveway, one with “curb appeal,” adds value to your home investment. In fact, home buyers may even prejudge the upkeep and condition of the house based upon the condition of the driveway: “The condition of the driveway sets the tone for the condition of the home,” real estate agent Amanda Miller told The New York Times. So it is worthwhile to plan your driveway carefully. With asphalt as your material — and attention to design and construction — your driveway will provide years of lasting service and an excellent return on the investment. – National  Asphalt Pavement Association

Step 1 – Demolition

First we need to clear your old driveway. If your driveway is broken, putting asphalt over the top is just a temporary fix. We need to remove the failed base layer and start over. We usually dig down 5 to 7 inches until we get to bare dirt.

Step 2 – Prepping the Site

Second, we take great pains to get the site graded exactly perfectly. Without proper care at this stage, the driveway won’t last for more than a decade like it should.

Step 3 – Base Layer

Depending on the type of soil we find under the driveway, we need to add stones, gravel, sand or all three. In this instance, the ground was clay so it needed these large stone. In most cases, we use a thick layer of crusher run, a mix of rock and dust which is the perfect base layer for a strong driveway.

Step 4 – Laying the Asphalt

After the really hard work, comes the part that most people think of when they think of laying a driveway — the asphalt! We use superior asphalt to ensure that your driveway lasts. We meticulously lay it down for maximum compaction and maximum beauty. You’ll love your new Joe Lamacchia Landscape, Inc. driveway. We’ve found that with proper care, our driveways last between 18 and 27 years.
